Anime Boston 2008

21 - 23 March 2008

I admit it. I'm embarrassed to say I have a deep, dark secret. I've always wanted to take lessons from Mike Loades. But I've got about as much chance of getting on his waiting list as George Leroy Tyrebiter has of getting elected dogkiller.

Search as I might I couldn't find Mike at the Anime Boston 2008 Con, but I did find Chris Ayres brandishing his sippy-cup of death (the largest thermal cup full of coke I've ever seen!). Chris has been teaching stage fighting at anime cons for a while now, but I had yet to make one of his classes. He started the lesson by choosing a small group from the audience to demonstrate the pitfalls of fighting in costume followed by the standard ritual humiliation of the audience.

These are pictures of Chris' back. Nice shirt.

On the left are some of Chris' students practicing to be professional wrestlers. On the right are some of Chris' students being confused.

We met these three guys while standing in line to get into the Anime Court Case. The one in red is Hilly. We can't remember the names of the other two because we didn't write them down. Personally I plead a dissolute life as the reason I can't remember. However, I do remember that they are from Connecticut and they have a local access program. Maybe we'll meet them again at ConnectiCon. If you check out the pods of Anime Boston you can make out the top of one of their heads.
