Greetings All!
With the proliferation of conventions, conferences, and expos, we here at Creating Fandom have decided to make the subject of our contest the unusual. Have you been to a unique kind of con or expo? Have you been to a unique kind of event at an otherwise ordinary con or expo? Or has something unusual happened at an otherwise ordinary event at an otherwise ordinary con or expo? Or... well you get the idea. We like humor, but your video need not be humorous. We tend to interpret uniqueness broadly, so don't hesitate to enter.
Our vicious lawyers have informed us that if we know what's good for us we'd come up with some official rules and tell you what they are.
HOW TO ENTER: Fill in the Contest Form at the bottom of this page. Let us know who you are, how to contact you by email, and what kind of event your video is of. Be sure to let us know the name of the file you're uploading to us. After you have pressed the submit button, the upload form will appear. Upload your entry and you're done. To be eligible, entries must be completed on our contact form. Incomplete entries will be disqualified if we have no way to contact you or to identifiy you. The form part of all entries will become the property of Creating Fandom, but the actual video that you upload will remain your property. By entering our contest, you give us permission to use it on our site. However, if you're not the winner and we use your entry we will give you full credit and an honorarium of $10.00 to boot.
CONTEST RULES:
- This contest is open to the general public in the U.S. and Canada only.
- This contest is void where prohibited by law.
- The prise is $100.00, which will be award in U.S. dollars. (OK, so you're not going to be able to retire on the first prize. It's still easy money.)
- All taxes and fees associated with winning this contest are the responsibility of the winner.
- All entries received by 2008 July 15, 11:59 PM, Eastern Daylight Time, will be eligible for the $100.00 prize.
- We don't want to be embarrassed by giving money to the wrong person, so the prize will not be awarded to anyone without proper identification.
- Individuals may enter as many different videos as they like provided each is unique.
- A contest entry shall consist of the form submitted on the "CONTACT US" web page on the Creating Fandom website and the associated video.
- The form part of each entry will become the property of Creating Fandom, but the video shall remain the property of the individual submitting the entry.
- Incomplete entries may be disqualified.
- By entering this contest, individuals assert that they have the right to submit the video. (We added this provision because when he was young Dr Jim got dragged into someone else's fight. It wasn't pretty.)
- By enterint this contest, individuals grant permission to use the video and personal information on our website even if they do not win the contest. If such an entry is used on this site, an honorarium of $10.00 (in USD) will be paid to the entrant.
- By claiming the prize, the winner authorizes the use, without additional compensation of his or her name and/or likeness and/or voice and/or photograph, place of residence, and the contest entry for promotion and/or advertising purposes in any manner and in any medium (including but not limited to, radio broadcasts, newspapers and other publications and in television or film releases, slides, videotape, distribution over the internet) which Creating Fandom may deem appropriate. In other words you'll let us use the video and your personal information on our website and possibly elsewhere for advertising purposes.
- This contest is subject to all applicable federal, state or provincial, and local or municipal laws.
- Creating Fandom reserves the right to withdraw or terminate this contest at any time without prior notice.
- In the event the contest is withdrawn or terminated Creating Fandom will within a reasonable time post a notice on the contest page of the Creating Fandom website stating that the contest was withdrawn or terminated and the date and time of termination. (We added this provision to cover our ... selves.)
- All decisions of the contest judges are final.
- And finally, Occam's razor shall apply.
